Walking Group Buddy

Dementia Oxfordshire warmly welcome volunteers from all backgrounds who want to make a difference. Being a volunteer can be immensely rewarding, our volunteers tell us they get great satisfaction from supporting people in their community. We are currently recruiting volunteers to become Walking Group Buddies.

In order to live well with dementia people need companionship, enjoyment, understanding and a listening ear. We provide training and on-going support for our volunteers to befriend, reduce social isolation and increase the well-being of people living with dementia, their families and carers.

Your role would include:

  • Attending a monthly walking group in beautiful surroundings such as Blenheim Palace and other parks around Oxfordshire.
  • Buddying up with people living with dementia and their carers to make them feel welcome, keeping the conversation going through friendly chats and supporting our Dementia Advisers to ensure the safety of our clients.
  • All we ask is that you are friendly and outgoing, have a level of fitness for a 30-40 minute walk and keen to learn more about dementia.
