Alzheimer’s Drug Breakthrough Shows Importance of Continued Research

1 minute read

This morning, BBC News reported on a new Alzheimer’s drug, lecanemab, that has been found in trials to slow destruction of the brain, ending years of a “100% failure rate” with Alzheimer’s therapies.

The large-scale trial of the drug involved 1,795 volunteers with early-stage Alzheimer’s who were given infusions of lecanemab every fortnight.

Not only is this a great success for the development of new Alzheimer’s therapies but shows the importance of continued research and having willing research volunteers.

There are many opportunities available across the country and in Oxfordshire to support ongoing research. You can find out more about available research opportunities and what it’s like to take part, here.
