Gaynor Langton

Dementia Adviser
Brief info

Gaynor works in South Oxfordshire from Thame to Wallingford to Didcot and all the areas in between! She joined Dementia Oxfordshire in September 2017 having previously run one of Age UK Oxfordshire’s community clubs.

“I left my career in the financial sector in 2016 to return to a more rewarding role where I can make a positive difference to people’s lives especially when they are given a diagnosis of dementia. I believe everyone should have the opportunity to continue to remain as independent as possible and have access to services that can support them and enrich their lives. I love my role as a Dementia Adviser as, through collaborative partnerships with other services, it enables me to help people make these links, to provide ongoing person-centred support and to reach the wider community by raising awareness of dementia.”

Gaynor has previously worked in education and finance but it was her fulfilling experience of working as a care assistant whilst completing her degree that motivated her to return to social care in 2016. Through this work, she has gained extensive experience of the different forms of dementia and how best to support people at different stages throughout their journey. She is currently studying for a Diploma in Dementia Care.
