Carefree Break – A Free Getaway For Unpaid Carers

2 minute read

We know how challenging it can be to be a full-time unpaid carer. At times, it can be demanding, stressful and difficult to find time for yourself, but it is important to remember that your wellbeing is just as important as the person’s you are caring for.

Carers Oxfordshire has been working closely with Carefree, a national charity set on providing support for unpaid carers, in order to be able to offer full-time unpaid carers the opportunity to take some time away from their caring responsibilities for a couple of days.

Accommodation is provided for free, as the hotels donate 1-2 night stays, all you have to do is select from the hundreds of hotels available and pick which dates you wish to have.

The ‘Carefree Break’ programme is for anyone over 18 that provides more than 30 hours a week of unpaid support & care for someone. Although accommodation is free, you must be able to pay for all other costs (such as transport, food, travel insurance, etc.), as well as the £25 admin fee that goes towards supporting the operation of the Carefree Charity.

If you are interested in finding out more about Carefree Breaks and would like to sign up or refer someone to the programme, please visit the Carers Oxfordshire website: https://www.carersoxfordshire.org.uk/short-breaks/
