Bicester Celebrity Fundraiser Huge Success!

3 minute read

Football, fun and fundraising!

On Bank Holiday Sunday, the Jay Lapper Memorial Trust hosted a packed day of family fun and raised an incredible £4500 for Dementia Oxfordshire.

Inspired by last year’s football match fundraiser, Mel and Martin Lapper, sister and brother of much-loved Jay Lapper, decided to do something even bigger and better this year.

The day started off with a car boot sale in the morning, followed by the afternoon feature football match, with many of Jay’s friends and relatives on the pitch! Throughout the afternoon, spectators enjoyed live music and a barbecue, while there was face-painting and a football competition for the children.

Celebrity auction

The day culminated with an auction overseen by celebrity auctioneer Charlie Ross – a well known face from BBC TV’s Flog It! and Bargain Hunt.

A selection of sporting memorabilia and donated gifts from local businesses were sold off with great enthusiasm, and made a significant contribution towards the final total!

Local support

The day wouldn’t have been possible without Dave Barrett and the team at Launton Sports and Social Club, who kindly hosted the event, and to the Deeley family who provided use of their field for the car boot sale.

Peter Johnson, Head of Service for Dementia Oxfordshire said, “It was a fantastic event – incredibly well organised and supported, and we are very grateful to everyone involved for raising such an impressive amount of money. The funds will help us in our work supporting Oxfordshire residents to continue to live well with dementia.”
