E-mail: mariakempson@dementiaoxfordshire.org.uk

Maria joined Dementia Oxfordshire in 2024, having previously worked as a care assistant in Witney community hospital where she cared for older adults who were recovering from falls, along with people living with dementia. She also worked with Marie Curie for a period, caring for end-of-life patients in their own homes.

She has completed her Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care and also a Level 3 Diploma in Dementia Care.

“Working with people living with dementia is filled with both highs and lows. The highs come from the moments when a smile lights up a face or a shared laugh reminds you of the person behind the condition. These moments are deeply rewarding and makes the job so worthwhile. Yet the lows are real too witnessing confusion, frustration and tears –  it’s hard not to feel sadness for the individual and their loved ones. Despite these challenges, the privilege of supporting someone to live well and with dignity makes it all worthwhile”

Outside of work, Maria enjoys spending time with her children, keeping fit and hiking the hills of Wales with her partner and their dog.

Normal working week: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday.
