Joining Dementia Oxfordshire in June 2026, Ally brings more than 35 years of nursing experience and a lifelong commitment to improving the lives of people living with dementia and their families.
A Registered Mental Health Nurse by background, Ally trained in Oxford before beginning a career in older adult mental health within the NHS. After working as a staff nurse and senior staff nurse in Oxford, a move to the Scottish Highlands led to a range of senior leadership roles focused on dementia care. Throughout a diverse career, she has managed teams and services, worked extensively with care homes, and contributed to service improvement across health and social care settings.
Previous roles have included Care Home Inspector and Serious Complaints Inspector with the Scottish Care Inspectorate, followed by Prescribing Support Nurse for NHS Highland, where she led a collaborative improvement project with GPs and pharmacists to enhance prescribing practice in care homes and reduce medicines waste. More recently, after returning to Oxford in 2023, Ally became Clinical Lead for Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust’s Care Home Discharge Liaison Team, supporting people with complex dementia, mental illness and physical health needs through person-centred discharge planning and transitional care.
At Dementia Oxfordshire, Ally supports Dementia Advisers across Oxfordshire, delivers dementia education and training to health and social care professionals, and will take on leadership of our Young Onset Dementia team later this year.
Outside work, Ally enjoys spending time outdoors with a dog and two rescue cats, visiting the coast whenever possible, playing guitar, singing in a community choir, and promoting wellbeing through an active and positive approach to life.
