Richard Ackers

Brief info

Richard joined Dementia Oxfordshire in July 2019. He brings with him a wealth of administration and finance experience gained in several public sector organisations.

Richard’s previous role was working on an NHS acute psychiatric ward in Oxford as a ward clerk. He was responsible for the administration tasks involved with patient care; supporting the multi-disciplinary team to look after patients with severe mental health and social problems.

“I really like working as part of a team, especially with those who support those who are less well off, are unwell, disabled or disadvantaged. Supporting the team to get the routine organizational and administration tasks done quickly and easily leaves them with more time and energy to deal with their clients. In Dementia Oxfordshire this means that staff supporting clients who are living with dementia have more time and resources to help those clients and their carers to continue to lead meaningful lives.”

Richard has a firm commitment to local democracy and is an elected member of his local parish council. He enjoys spending his free time with his family, especially his three grandchildren.
