My background is in safeguarding and quality, and it was my volunteer work during this time that inspired me to work as a carer on a dementia unit in a nursing home. I am passionate about enabling people to lead full, meaningful lives, to make personal choices and maintain their independence. Becoming a Dementia Adviser with Dementia Oxfordshire has given me the opportunity to support people from the very beginning of their journey, and have a positive impact on their lives.
I continue to work on the dementia unit one day per week, and I’m currently studying for a post-graduate degree in dementia studies with the University of Worcester.
