Janet has been with Dementia Oxfordshire since the service began, having previously been a Dementia Advisor with Social Services at Oxfordshire County Council since 2012.
Janet has had a varied career, a long term Civil Servant before moving to the voluntary sector in 2003; she hails from Belfast and joined Oxfordshire County Council after a family move to Oxfordshire in 2007.
“Most of my working life I have been involved in giving advice and guidance, families can feel lost and vulnerable after a Dementia diagnosis and don’t know where to turn. I am proud to be part of Dementia Oxfordshire which I believe excels in the way it provides support.”
As well as working as a front line Adviser Janet also provides administrative support to the service helping the administrator in processing referrals and assisting the head of service in ensuring information in the database is accurate and current. She has a knack for making contact with clients that have been ‘lost’ from the service, due an address or telephone number change or because life with dementia has become overwhelming, and re-engaging them with the service.
Janet covers the Faringdon area and has a City and Guilds level 3 in Dementia Studies.
