Caring with confidence for people with dementia – Thame

The session has been developed for people involved in caring for someone with dementia. Participants will find out about the meaning of the term dementia, its causes and the possible effects the condition may have on people as it progresses. The session also looks at the importance of good communication and interaction between carers and the people they support, and provides pointers for improving communication skills in different situations with people at different stages of the condition. In addition, participants will explore the possible causes of specific behaviours in dementia, and suggested ways of coping in different situations
